Our food supply

We strongly believe in supporting our vibrant independent shops to purchase all our food and other supplies. Without their specialist knowledge, expertise and high quality, Chorlton wouldn’t be what it is today.

We source our food from the following places:

Abundance
Abundance Manchester is a voluntary project which picks surplus or unwanted fruit from gardens and public trees around South Manchester and distributes it to local groups and communities. They also collect and distribute surplus vegetables from allotments and have their own Abundance allotment to grow food for groups who can make good use of it. We have been able to make use of their surplus apples during our cooking session at Glebelands City Growers.

Glebelands City Growers
Glebelands is a pioneering urban growing project on the banks of the Mersey in Sale, producing organic food for consumption within Greater Manchester.  Glebelands City Growers provides a unique example of sustainable food production in an urban environment. Their mission is to challenge perceptions about how food is produced and inspire people towards positive change. They supply delicious healthy fresh vegetables to the local community at affordable prices and aim to increase awareness and understanding of truly sustainable food production through their education programme and by providing training and volunteer opportunities. They have cooked on site with us using freshly picked vegetables and herbs.
