  • 1 dessert spoon dried yeast
  • 1 Pint of warm water

  2. Put the sugar and dried yeast into half the warm water, mix well, and leave to activate in a warm place
  3. Grease the bread tins
  4. When the yeast has formed a good ‘head’ on the water, get the bowl out of the oven and put in the flour and salt Mix them together and make a well in the middle
  5. Pour the yeasted water and the rest of the warm water into the well and leave for about 10 mins (till bowl cools to hand heat)
  6. Mix the dough thoroughly in the bowl and then turn it out on to a floured surface
  7. Knead the dough until a soft spongy, elastic texture has been reached (dough should not be sticking to your hands at this point)
  8. Divide the dough into 2 halves and re-knead them, shaping them and placing in the tins
  9. Place in a hot oven and cook for 25 mins at 190 degrees
  10. Take the bread out of the oven and out of bread tins. Check for readiness by tapping bottom of loaf (if should sound slightly hollow
  11. Place on a wire rack until cooled down
