Ingredients
- 1 tbsp dried yeast
- 3 fl oz warm water
- 1 lb strong plain flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tspn salt
- 4 eggs
- 8 oz butter
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by adding it to the warm water with ½ tspn sugar, stir thoroughly and leave till a substantial ‘head’ has formed on the surface.
- Mix the flour, sugar and salt in a pre-warmed ceramic bowl and add the yeast mixture. Combine the ingredients in the bowl to form a dough
- Turn the dough out onto a floured board and knead thoroughly till a smooth, elastic texture is achieved
- Flatten out the ball of dough and dot it with 1/3 of the butter
